Trump’s United Nations Vote is a Strategy

Trump and Nikki Haley know that demanding vote from the community of nations for Jerusalem is pure stupidity. Trump also knows that he can buy more time and feel secure by throwing red meat to his base. The base has nothing to gain but they will stand by their man, they are good loyal humans who are taken for a ride by Trump.

Jerusalem decision by Trump will increase Anti-Semitism

Now, the rise of this ugly evil of Anti-Semitism can be squarely attributed to Prime Minister Netanyahu. He should be held accountable for the long term insecurities heaped on the people of Israel. Let me share the information in simple terms while my extensive research article is in the making.

Anti-Semitism is a wrong label in most cases, it is actually resentment born out of violation of international treaties by Israeli government. Please separate Judaism, Jews, Israel and the Israeli Government, the world has no problem whatsoever with the first three but resent the 4th one.

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) made headlines with his J Street Conference debut speech, connecting strong diplomacy, the pursuit of a two-state solution and the fight against bigotry to long-standing American and Israeli values. The Senator had the audience on their feet when he said that “to oppose the policies of a right-wing government in Israel does not make one anti-Israel or an anti-Semite. We can oppose the policies of President Trump without being anti-American. We can oppose the policies of Netanyahu without being anti-Israel. The Communal Conversation

Our plenary on the role of the American Jewish community in the Trump era featured a riveting discussion among major communal leaders, including our own J Street U president Brooke Davies. We know there are tremendous struggles and challenges ahead.

But I do want to take a moment to celebrate -- and to congratulate you for the contribution you’ve made to J Street’s success.

We heard speaker after speaker tell us how valuable, how unique and how urgently needed our voice and our movement are. Leader Pelosi told us that “With courage candor and passion ... you have honored the call to defend our values and fight for our future." Senator Chris Murphy, in a major speech on US policy in the Middle East, thanked us for being “a critical partner for those of us who still believe in the transformative power of diplomacy.” And New York Times columnist Tom Friedman described us as “the actual heart and soul of the American Jewish community.”

We’ve all built this together. I couldn’t be more proud, or more sure that we are ready for the pivotal fights that we face ahead.

Trouble in the Tribe: The Jewish American Conflict over Israel

When I started hearing the following audio recording, my overpowering thought was, I wish the Indians do the same - that is, understand the difference between nation and the Government, they are two different entities. Its not easy to discern, but when you do, you started seeing things clearly.

Criticism of Government of Israel is not the same as criticism of Israel. 

Criticism of Modi government is not the same as criticism of India.
Unflinching party loyalty is not the same as patriotism. 

 

At least I am glad in our forum Dallas Indians, most of the Indians are learning to at least accept another point of view without throwing epiteths and insults for their differences. 

Professor Dov Waxman explains the view point of the right, right center, left and left center eloquently without denigrating or upping any one. I like that.

Sanders: America Cannot Be ‘One-Sided’ in Israel, Palestinians Must Be Given ‘Respect and Dignity’

Justice and fairness are sustainable and go a long way. Bernie will bring peace to the region. 
Bernie wants to do the right thing, where as Hilary wants to dance to the AIPAC tune.

Sen. Bernie Sanders declared his support for Israel, but averred that America could no longer be “one-sided” in the Israel-Palestine conflict. “We are going to have to treat the Palestinian people with respect and dignity,” he said.

“I believe the United States and the rest of the world have got to work together to help the Palestinian people,” he said. “That does not make me anti-Israel. That paves the way, I think, to an approach that works in the middle east.”

Later in the debate, he said that there would come a time, in the pursuit of justice and peace, that America would have to admit that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “is not right all of the time.”

In a video address to the HaaretzQ: with NIF conference in New York, U.S. President Barack Obama said that peace is the only way that Israel can remain a Jewish and democratic state. Obama condemned the recent spate of terrorist attacks against Israelis, and urged the Israeli government to bring to justice anyone who commits acts of violence against Palestinians.

Obama's address opened the first ever Haaretz conference in the United States, which was organized in conjunction with the New Israel Fund. Immediately after Obama's speech, President Reuven Rivlin addressed the conference. Also expected to address the conference was Robert Malley, Obama's senior adviser on the counterinsurgency campaign against ISIS.

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, is due to deliver one of the keynote speeches at the conference. Other speakers include PLO Secretary General Saeb Erekat, former foreign and justice minister MK Tzipi Livni and Joint List chairman MK Ayman Odeh.


In his speech, Obama highlighted the special relationship between Israel and the United States and his administration's commitment to Israel's security, saying that both are unshakable. He added that security and military cooperation with Israel are currently at an unprecedented level.

"We are at a critical moment," Obama said. "Inexcusable violence has taken to many lives – Israelis, Palestinian and Americans. I have been clear that the Palestinian leaders have to condemn the ongoing attacks [against Israelis] and stop incitement. Individuals responsible for violence including violence against Palestinian must be brought to justice."

Obama added that the United States "call[s] on both sides to work to defuse tensions exercise restraint and prevent more loss of life and restore calm."

"The best way to reduce tensions and ensure Israel's security is to continue working in concrete ways towards a two-state solution," he added.

"At times like these it is important to reaffirm what we know is true so I will say it again – peace is necessary, peace is just and peace is possible. Peace is necessary because it is the only way to ensure true and lasting security for Israelis and Palestinians and the only way to ensure that Israel remains a democratic and Jewish state."

Obama went on to say that, "Peace is just because the two-state solution will finally bring Israelis the normalcy to which they are entitled and Palestinians the sovereign state and dignity they deserve. And peace is possible if leaders and people are willing to summon the will and courage to break free from the patterns of the past and forge a new future."
